Rudra Tales

Tale Of Telugu Weddings

rudratales

When we started off, we first stepped into planning the weddings, and from then we fall in love again and again with every wedding we do. We guess there is some magic around weddings, it's all filled with emotions, togetherness, fun, and joy. Each wedding we do tells us a story, gives us a new perspective, new ideas to implement, and mainly many more memories ❤ TALE OF TELUGU WEDDINGS So we are going to share our stories about the weddings we executed, as well as take you through how a proper Telugu wedding takes place. "కళ్యాణం... కమనీయం... జీవితం"

Wedding in Telugu is also called "VIVAHA VEDUKA", "PELLI", "KALYANAM"& "PARINAYAM". Telugu wedding is like a festival rich in cultures and traditions, which are very deep-rooted and binds the couple with a thread mentally and spiritually, the seven vows are taken by walking around the fire, which makes them inseparable. Telugu Wedding consists of a total of 20 segments, you read it right, we are not kidding 😅 that's what makes a BIG FAT INDIAN WEDDINGS. In the coming days, we will share with you our stories about the Telugu wedding. Stay tuned to witness love, affections, happiness, gloominess, and finally a blast!

loading

Nischitartham (Engagement)In Telugu "nishchaya" means decided, so it can be loosely translated that the couple has now decided to get married. We feel that Engagement makes a pavement to new beginnings, andalong with it a bonus of blessings, joy, and eternal love. Sometimes we consider ourselves very lucky to actually witness these beautiful moments of some else's life, don't you think it'swonderful? We meant that when you see the happiness in the groom's eyes when the bride finallysays YES! And at the same time the bride, with her heart thumping, feeling that she on top of theworld.

Parents, friends, near and dear ones all of them together take part joyously in your never-again moments. These are the kind of memories we make with every wedding we do andalmost witness the same kind of emotions, again and again, it's just beautiful ❤ That's maybebecause we are humans, where the most common thing we have are these feelings which bindus.

loading

As we said Telugu wedding is full of culture and traditions, the engagement involves someimportant rituals which are done by the bride and the groom, and later the priest refers the‘Horoscope’ of both the bride and groom to find out an auspicious date & time also known as‘Muhurat’ for them to get married.

Here comes the important ritual where both the sides writeLAGNA PATRIKA (bond which seals them forever)Also in this ceremony, the Bride’s future mother-in-law gifts her presents including clothes, silverware & gold, etc

loading

And Finally, She Said YES 😁♥After all rituals, the bride and the groom now start their new beginnings which are made officialby holding hands and exchange of rings as a symbol of love.

loading

Now moving forward, after the Nischitartham (Engagement) here comes the Ganesha Poojaalong with Raata Ceremony. This is the first and foremost thing which should be done in order tostart the pre-wedding works. We all know how many things should be done for a wedding, frombooking the venue to costume selection and the list goes on... So unless and until Raata Ceremony and Ganesha Pooja happens, no one starts the arrangements for the wedding.

Ganesha Pooja related to weddings is also called VIGNESWARA BIYYAMBasically down South India In Hindu Rituals, any important work, be it a celebration or opening whatever it is, they start off it with Ganesha Pooja. That's because they believe that Lord Ganesha will help them in completing whatever they start and without any kind of hurdles in between. So even we feel those positive vibes while working for this ceremony. All of our team and crew pray for the success of the wedding/event. Irrespective of caste, creed, and religion we pray, not to the god maybe but to the cosmic and divine power which is all around us, keeps us going on no matter what we go through personally as individuals. Our team and crew work tirelessly even for a small segment of the event. Mainly the crew, who physically take part indoing the arrangements, are the real artists and we guess they are the strength to every event management services.

Ganesha Pooja has a small but important segment called the Raata Ceremony. Hearing it for the first time? Go On and read to know more. Raata Ceremony is where the elderly people of the house, take the timber cane/timber stick, dress it with turmeric, kumkum, and a hefty bunch of mango leaves. (As shown in the pic) Theydo this because to let all the people in the locality know that there is a celebration going on in their home...So cool right? 😎 Unfortunately, this is not followed by everyone as they moved on tocities, but the village folks still follow the traditions as it is.

It's very rare to see city people follow this procedure. Of course, each family has some inherent traditions which they follow, butsomewhere weddings nowadays became a party, which is not. According to us Weddings are Celebrations where the whole generation should take part, revive their old memories, add somemore and bless the new couple for their new beginnings. Don't you think keeping all those traditions and culture close to us and introducing them to the next generations is important? Weguess that topic is for another day to debate. Stay tuned till then😉TALE OF TELUGU WEDDINGS Segment: 2Vigneswara Biyyam (Ganesha Pooja) & Raata CeremonySo as we said, Ganesha Pooja related to Telugu weddings is also called VIGNESWARA BIYYAM. After the Nischitartham (Engagement), based on "Muhurat" which is fixed, both the sides bride and groom individually do this ritual. Here they pray to Lord Ganesha for blessings and ask himto make the wedding successful without any hurdles. The main important thing is they use Rice Grains in this ritual, as an offering to Lord Ganesha. They vow to him that after the completion ofthe whole wedding, will offer him UNDRALLU/KUDUMULU (which are Lord Ganesha's Favourite)made out of this rice used during the Pooja. So that's how it unfolds! After this Ceremony, the actual hustle and bustle start, and it's all fun to watch, participate and make it happen.

So here's is the fun part, where all the relatives, close family friends, and well-wishers gather, the actual celebration begins. Prior to the wedding day, 2 or 3 days before this ritual take place attheir respective houses of both bride and groomThis segment gives us quanta of energy, makes us do better every time. This segment demandslots of physical work that needs to be done.

So all of us as a team make sure we do the arrangements like decor, catering, photography, perfectly so that our clients have a stress-freeday and enjoy themselves in the things they do. To understand this ritual/segment clearly, in theway you can call it Haldi Ceremony as North Indian People do, but it is a lot more different from it.We personally like this segment more because, from the bride's perspective this is the last ritualdone to her in her own home, so it has some mixed emotions. After the completion of this segment, both the bride and groom are not supposed to leave thehome till the actual wedding ceremony.

loading

Let's see how this segment unfoldsOn a prefixed day, all the relatives and well-wishers gather at the respective houses on both sidesand smear the bride and the groom with NALUGU.NALUGU is basically a mixture of flours, turmeric powder, and oils.

(This is the only kind ofsimilarity that can be seen in the North Indian Wedding). The ceremony starts with this, later they move on to MANGALA SNANAM, where they use a Sievealso called Jalleda in Telugu, and pour fragrant water through it on the bride and the groom respectively. It goes without saying that immediately following this, the girl and boy are presented with a new saree and dhoti respectively. We enjoy these segments, as it involves smearing the turmeric paste and throwing water on the bride and groom. It's all fun to watch our clients enjoy and be present in their once in life time moments. These moments are elements of fun and joy, that we love to capture with our cameras.

loading

As we said earlier, the same process applies to the bride also i.e NALUGU and MANGALASNANAM.Another important thing here is, In the making of the Pellikuthuru or Pellikoduku, they makesomeone who is next to be married in that family or mostly the smaller in age sit beside them as Thodu-Pellikuthuru or Thodu-PellikodukuIn Telugu, Thodu means one's company, and Telugu traditions also believe that oneperson(bride/groom) should not sit/be alone.

Also, it's a way of introducing the process of marriage to a new generation. Every segment has its own reasons, and that's the beauty of it. We feel passing them to newgenerations is very important, because in these traditions only lies values, emotions, anddeep-rooted affections towards our motherland. Each family has its own inherent traditions which they follow, We at Rudra Events make sure to know correctly what all customs do our clients follow & willplan and execute accordingly.

loading

Elements of the segment After the NALUGU and MANGALA SNANAM, the bride and groom are given new clothes, soonthey get dressed with Kalynam Bottu on their forehead. Here only the bride performs Pooja. Accordingly, all the married women, sisters, and grandmothers are given away betel leaves, sweets, flowers, bangles, etc.

It is believed that their blessings are the best way to initiate the bride to be amongst them. Most of the ceremonies are presided over by women. The glimmer of saree and jingle of bangles does not fail to catch one's attention. That's all the details about this segment. Stay tuned to know more about Telugu Weddings.
